TOPIC: How to maximize the use of financial information to enhance nonprofit operations
 

 

DESCRIPTION: Finances are obviously critical to the overall success of any nonprofit operation. Many nonprofit organizations use the financial information just as it comes out of the financial system that is used to track revenue and expenses. Knowing the best way to organize and present this data, how to track and use historical information, budgeting for outcomes and strategic plans and long term budgeting will be discussed. Examples of simple changes and formats that can enhance the knowledge for your board, constituents and funding sources will be presented.

SPEAKER: Linda Gabel
Linda has nearly thirty years experience in financial management for higher education, exclusively for nonprofit institutions. Her work entailed taking detailed financial reports and reformatting them into concise meaningful presentations for management decision-making as well as completing a great deal of financial analysis and numerous projections for new projects. She has also been on a number of board of directors, including family and children services boards, symphony and opera association and a national professional board. She serves on the board for Larimer Center for Mental Health and is secretary of the board of trustees for Poudre River Library District. She currently owns and operates two small businesses; Gabel Financial Resources and Seniors Helping Seniors franchise.
