New Board Officers and Members Elected

 

2012 Community Foundation Board OfficersThe Board of Directors of the Community Foundation Serving Greeley and Weld County elected Karen Burd as the Chairperson for 2012. Burd is a Financial Consultant with LPL Financial and has over 15 years in the field. She is a Colorado native and grew up on a farm east of Greeley, which she and her husband still own and operate. They also ranch and farm outside of Ault. Burd serves on the Finance Committee for the Foundation.

 

Michael Payne, a Windsor resident and attorney with Otis, Coan and Peters, LLC, was elected Vice Chair. He has an undergraduate and law degree from the University of Kansas. He taught English at a university in Paris and worked for the Institute of International Education in New York assisting European and Latin American students pursuing degrees in the United States in the Fullbright Program. He moved to Colorado in 2007 and worked with a law firm in Arvada before moving to Greeley. Payne chairs the Governance and Compliance Committee for the Foundation.

 

Wes Goehring, a retired businessman was elected Secretary. Goehring was employed with the Eastman Kodak Company for 26 years and later owned Work Out West Fitness & Tennis Club. He has lived in Greeley for over 30 years and has been active on the boards of the Aims Community College Foundation, the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra Association and the Greeley/Weld Chamber of Commerce. Goerhing has been a member of the Greeley Rotary Club since 1986 and serves on the Investment Committee for the Foundation.

 

Nick Berryman, a Kersey resident, commercial real estate broker for Realtec and manager of Prairie Sage Storage, was re-elected Treasurer. Berryman received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business/Management from Colorado State University. He has been active with Red Eye Rotary and is the treasurer for the Inside Track Investment Club. Berryman serves on the Investment, Governance and Compliance and Finance Committees for the Foundation.

 

Charmaine Coppom, an Associate Professor Emeritus of Music from the University of Northern Colorado, will remain on the Executive Committee as the Immediate Past Chair. Coppom is past Chair of the Community Advisory Board for UNC’s College of Performing and Visual Arts; past Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee for The Women’s Fund of Weld County, Inc. board; and was a volunteer for School District Six for many years. She chairs the Development and Marketing Committee and serves on the Nominating Committee for the Foundation.

 

Karen Burd also announced the appointment of three new board members from Weld County.

 

Beth Bashor will be a representative for Grover. Bashor was a caseworker in the Child Services Division of Weld County Social Services and also taught at Pawnee Junior/Senior High School in Grover. She served as a Trustee for Aims Community College and on the school board for Pawnee School District. Bashor has been an active community member including volunteering at Right to Read, CASA and Consumer Credit Counseling Service among others.

 

Tim Ulrich will be a representative for Greeley. Ulrich has an Undergraduate Degree from Colorado State University and a Graduate Degree from Kansas State University in Agricultural Business. He currently works as a loan analyst at Points West Community Bank. He is active in the Colorado Livestock Association, a board member of the Colorado FFA Foundation and a Chapter Volunteer Advisory board member of the Delta Chi Fraternity. Ulrich serves on the Littler and Scholarship Committees for the Foundation.

 

Rob Waldo will be a representative for Greeley. Waldo has practiced law in Greeley since 1978. His practice emphasizes wills, trusts, estate planning, estate administration and real estate. He is a member of the Colorado Bar Association and the Weld County Bar Association. Waldo is a past president of the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra Association Board of Directors and is currently a member of the Assistance League of Greeley Advisory Board and the Kiwanis Club of Greeley.

 

The Community Foundation Serving Greeley and Weld County supports charitable programs and provides scholarships in the Weld County area. It was founded in 1997 through the merger of the Greeley Area and Weld County Community Foundations and has nearly $11,500,000 in assets.
